The position of intern with GPI IT is an historically varied one. From operating drones on the decks of our ships, to braving the rooftop of the office to track satellites and build solar panels, the ideal candidate should redefine the word “flexible”. We have our day-to-day tasks of computer maintenance but involve ourselves in projects to set up new offices all around the world, travel to different locations to support Greenpeace events and leverage technology in innovative ways to help our staff make a positive impact on the environmental goals of our campaigns.
Aims & Goals (Q4 2017 season)
Our experience shows that our interns are able to develop themselves professionally and our team develops and benefits in turn. Our desired candidate is able to start a project, fully document and complete the objectives of that project and if necessary pass it on to the project manager or following intern.
This seasons project is to develop a curriculum, methodology for content creation, platform (adoption) and actual content for IT (and possibly wider) trainings in a modern way. The Aim is to heighten technical proficiency of all Greenpeace employees for all the global IT platforms and tools we provide. The Goal is to provide a platform and set of standards upon which trainings can be developed.
The candidate will have the opportunity to choose their own developmental path alongside the mandatory modules of networking, scripting and command line skills. Particular to this season, the developmental path will include proficiency training on the chosen platform as part of the Internship Goal.
